R360 League Players Subject to 10-Year Suspension from Australia's Rugby League

The NRL's governing body has stated that participants who sign with the “rebel” R360 will be banned for 10 seasons.

The proposed competition, which plans to launch in October 2026, is aiming to attract players from union and league with hefty contracts and a condensed game calendar.

Leading NRL players have reportedly received offers by the new league, which will include multiple men's teams and four women's teams based in key urban centers worldwide.

Samoa's the player, who plays for his NRL club in the league, has confirmed he has had talks with the breakaway league.

Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Payne Haas and Gray are also believed to be thinking about signing the rebel league.

Several leading rugby union countries, such as Australia, recently announced a restriction on athletes signing with R360 playing global fixtures.

“We have consulted our clubs and we've taken firm action,” said ARLC chief V'Landys.

“Sadly, there will continually be organizations that attempt to hijack our code for monetary profit.

“They avoid funding in development systems or the development of talent. They only leverage the dedication of other organizations, putting players at risk of economic hardship while profiting themselves.

“They are, in reality, imitating the sport.”

The organization is established by ex-England star Tindall and backed by independent financiers.

Following the possible union bans were announced earlier, it stated: “We seek to cooperate together as part of the international rugby schedule.

“The series is structured with bespoke schedules for men's and women's teams and we will release all players for test matches, as included in their deals.”

The new league will apply for endorsement for its initiatives from rugby union's governing body, rugby union's governing body, at its official gathering in the coming year.
