English fans need to act better than the taunts they direct at Australia batsman Steve Smith, says ex- coach Lehmann.

Steve Smith, 36 years old, has regularly been a frequent focus of chants and taunts from English supporters in the wake of his involvement in the 2018's ball-altering controversy.

Smith was removed as leader and suspended for a 12 months while Darren Lehmann, who was exonerated of any misconduct, stepped down as coach following the episode.

"The taunts you get is daily," Darren Lehmann stated. "It's incredible."

"He is playing every day. It's likely more difficult for him."

"In England they just don't forget. It's as if they have ever done anything wrong in their life."

"It is only the people that overindulge and carry on like pork chops."

Background of the Ball-Tampering Incident

In a Test match versus South Africa, Smith confessed the Australian "captain's group" formulated a strategy to alter the ball.

Former opening batsman David Warner taught batter Cameron Bancroft how to employ abrasive material to rough up the cricket ball, and he was then spotted in the act by TV cameras in the middle of the match. Both men were also banned in addition to Steve Smith.
