Fresh Particulars Come to Light Concerning the Location of the Reiner Couple's Bodies

New information has come to light concerning the tragic passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.

A Discovery

According to a report citing a confidential source, a therapist scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently detained without bail.

Correcting the Record

The confidential informant challenged several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

Furthermore pushed back against widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement applies to reports of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
