Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland before the international break, however will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, readers and a range of guests.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Football and Family Experiences

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football side," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our team for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they do look strong again.

West Ham's sole away win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously Forest coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their run under their manager, or the home side responding?

I will go with Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

A family member advised me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a threat.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

They have have plenty of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice would be to support the visitors here, because they are clearly able of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's home record, the only side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know the visitors are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at home this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard one to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
