One two-month cruise circling the Australian Coast has been cancelled following the tragic passing of an elderly lady who was left behind by the cruise liner on a isolated island.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but separated from the party for a break. The liner departed without her and came back later that day after the crew discovered the passenger was not present.

A major rescue mission located her person the following day.

Officials are examining the tragedy, in coordination with police and the official investigator.
