Brassic Calls it a Day with Tarantino-Inspired Last Episode
Joseph Gilgun and Danny Brocklehurst are wrapping up on their comedy series about a close-knit group of endearing rogues causing chaos in a rural Lancashire town. You might expect the last episode to be a nostalgic highlight reel of booze, drugs and cheeky thievery. However, the atmosphere turns much more somber as the character Vinnie, played by Gilgun and the gang hole up in a bar with criminal figure Davey MacDonagh for a climactic 50th episode seemingly influenced by the filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.

An especially moving installment intertwines the tales of a injured draft horse and a vanished calf into a deeper plotline centring on Tristan, whose actions lead to a fraternal intervention.

It’s been a long road. But the second-to-last episode of this at first slow-moving but eventually gripping series about phone hacking sees Nick, portrayed by David Tennant uncovering information about the actions of the News of the World that the rest of the media simply can’t ignore. Things are also looking up for the character Dave, who has a unexpected new supporter.
